At San Diego Cooperative Charter School (SDCCS) our tuition-free charter school is known for our warm and caring TK-8 learning environment. To get to know more about the people behind our school culture, we recently chatted with SDCCS School Psychologist Nahomi Rosas. Here’s what she had to say!

Nahomi Rosas, SDCCS School Psychologist

When did you know you wanted to be an educator or staff member in the education field?

I knew I wanted to be a school psychologist after working as a special education teacher for 5 yrs and working really close with the school psychologist at the school I was working at at the time.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Gelm in 2nd grade because she made learning fun.

What do you love most about your role?

What I love most about my role as a school psychologist is that every student is different and every time I work with each one of them, I get to help them understand their best way of learning new information and help them succeed in school.

Share a favorite memory of your work at SDCCS.

My favorite memory so far has been evaluating an 8th grade student who was struggling A LOT academically throughout the years. When we evaluated her, and she began receiving the special education services she needed, she came to my office to thank me for helping her. She said she felt really happy and confident to be going to high school with the services she needed in order to be successful. She reminded me of the reason why I do and love my job.
